In my country, companies often don’t strictly control use of the company credit card, even though it is for authorized purchases only. Auditors check the amount of charges, and a significant amount will cause problems. But organizational culture in my country tends to discourage people from turning in co-workers. So many employees use the company card for small personal expenses, such as drinks, clothes, or leisure activities.
I was not aware of this until I visited several of my friends back home while on holiday. They all worked for the same company. We had several drinks in a bar, and one of them started bragging about how he would put the drinks on the company card. Everyone laughed and cheered the idea. I allowed him to pay for my drinks but felt uncomfortable about it.
